Wedding Trends 2017

2017 Wedding Trends
In the world of wedding trends, things are constantly changing, evolving and starting anew.  Want to be on the cutting edge with you nuptials?   Here is what will be hot and trendy in 2017.

Color Trends

Last year we saw cool, softer colors, but 2017 is gearing up to be bold and bright by incorporating red, yellow, and orange into bouquets and centerpieces. This adds pop without overdoing the decor.  Metallic accents will be a huge trend this year featured prominently as an accent shade.

Invitation Trends

Artisanal invites will be all the rage – think less paper and ink, more wood, metal, and fabric. More and more couples will look to set the tone of their wedding via this first introduction and skipping traditional invites.  Not only are these invites completely unique to the couple, but they lay the groundwork for what’s to come on the big day.

Table Trends

No more traditional sit-down dinners! It's family style for a more relaxed, personal, and intimate wedding. Long tables bring back memories of the days when that style of dining was a typical Saturday night. Another hot trend is cocktail-style receptions. This gives more time to the reception, dancing, and enjoying your guests.

Food Trends

Three words: street food trucks! Trendy, popular and loved by all. Think miniature midnight snacks, such as posh fish and chips, miniature burgers, and crepes - and those are just a few of the options! Or ask your cater to serve midnight snacks, such as miniature pizzas and bagels. After all, no one wants to go home feeling hungry.

Cake Trends

Dramatic wedding cakes will be so 2016, with couples opting instead for tiered displays of delectable donuts, whimsical cupcakes, or scrumptious macaroons. Choose one tasty treat or offer guests a multitude of options with a few mouthwatering sweets to choose from. Forgoing the tedious multi-tiered cake is a great way to save a few bucks and it’ll give you a chance to jump on board the latest dessert craze.

Favor Trends

No more candles or DIY favors guests leave behind. Give something your guests appreciate or want to take home!  Give them mini potted plants that will bring back memories of your wedding when they flower each year

It's already almost over

It seems as though the summer just got started and there's already Halloween costumes out in the store.  Back to school sales are in full swing and all I can do is think about is heading to the beach....Is it me or is mass marketing dictating how we wind down the last few weeks of the best part of the year?  Now don't get me wrong, I love the cool crisp Autumn air and the beautiful colors of the Hudson Valley......but can't we extend the summer a few more weeks???  it seems like there are so many chores to do or commitments to projects or other people that the summer flies by before I get to do what I want to do.
What about that wine tasting party on the back deck? or the boat party on the Hudson? The barbeque with the neighbors never got planned either.
I guess the key is to plan in advance and plan around your plans and not the plans of others and stick to it.

                                                  Simple Summer Centerpieces

It’s the old phrase, ”Keep it Simple”, that really works for summer time entertaining.  A few flowers or candles and a little raffia and suddenly the plainest objects placed together create beautiful harmony. Make your tablescapes light as a summer breeze with crisp white linens and mason jars filled with candles and flowers for every occasion.  Even the most basic barbeque can be switched to a summer sizzler with just a few well placed accents.

And for the lowest maintenance summer centerpiece ever, pick out a few succulents for your table.  It won’t matter if it’s Tuesday and grilled hot dogs or Sunday and steaks…that table will look terrific!

celebrate and make memories

Celebrate and make Memories

So it’s Memorial Day… it’s Father’s Day…  It’s graduation.  Celebrate!  Maybe it’s a birthday or anniversary ….  Celebrate! Maybe it’s lunch out with a good friend….or breakfast with your nephew….celebrate!

It seems like before you know it, it’s another day another, week, another month…….boom, a year is gone. In this day of cell phones and tablets, we don’t connect like we used to.  We don’t share experiences like we used to, there’s not as many hugs as lol’s these days.  In the end, all we will really ever have are our memories.

So make some great memories that will make you happy, when you’re on the way to the bank….or picking up the dry cleaning.  Think of that party you threw and smile.

Get ready, get set, say......yes!

Summer is coming upon us quickly….. And people are planning many events.  There are the weddings, engagements, graduations, communions, Memorial Day parties and Father’s day barbeques.  So many people panic when it comes to the planning.   Most guests are so happy to attend they don’t realize the stress that the planners may be going through.  This is particularly evident when people send invitations and guest do not respond in a timely manner.  There are so many factors that are influenced by an accurate guest count; how big a tent, how many tables and chairs, dishes and glasses, how much food to buy and prepare or order, how much wine or beer or other beverages…..the list goes on and on.  So besides deciding on what will work for you in your calendar, be considerate and RSVP to your host or hostess by the time they requested.

So maybe your brother is going to pop the question….he’s looking to his sister for some help on how to set the stage for his life changing event.  You are touched and happy to help, but not quite sure what to do…..or

…….It’s your wedding at the winery and you want to stage your ceremony outside the barrel room overlooking the vineyards.  You want a focal point for the ceremony…..or

Maybe it’s a special anniversary and you want to rekindle the magic that you knew so many years ago. It could start with a simple wooden arbor.  Depending on your idea or style, based on venue or overall ambiance, choose from classic white or a more natural wood look.

It feels sort of French....

When someone says….”Oh…I wish it could look like we were in a different country for this event”, or “I want to pretend that we’re on vacation for this occasion”…you can make that happen.  With the right colors and textures, a few potted plants and furniture pieces, you can transform any patch of grass into the south of France.

Create an inviting oasis for your guests…..scatter round tables complete with market umbrellas, adding natural wood chairs.  Shades of light olive and plum table linens make it seem like you’ll be dining in the fields of the French countryside. For your dining, the Provence style plate will please the eye as a palette for the edible offerings. Serve fresh lemonade with a sprig of fresh lavender in hobnailed glasses, relax and enjoy.
